General Plans for the West Valley
What is a General Plan? Cities and lawmakers use general plans as a guide for future growth. You can consider it like a roadmap or blueprint of a city's future. Some like to call it a "wish list", too. What's important are the people residents elect to put general plans in place.
The Arizona Revised Statutes call for each municipality to "adopt a comprehensive, long-rang general plan for the development of the municipality." These general plans must include land use plans, community goals, and developmental policies.
Your city's general plan most likely has maps and diagrams detailing the vision city leaders are trying to achieve. (Statements about each general plan come directly from the city's websites.)

The general plan will serve as a document that will help guide our Council in decision making for the next ten years. Twenty two of our residents dedicated their time and put a lot of hard work into this plan. It provides a clear vision of what our city can be 10 years from now as our city continues to grow and develop. ~Georgia Lord, Mayor, City of Goodyear |
