Party for the Planet - Trail Clean-up Project in Partnership with city of Peoria: Saturday, April 18, 7-10 a.m., 16651 N. 84th Ave.
In recognition of Earth Day and in partnership with the city of Peoria and Arizona Clean and Beautiful, the city of Glendale is seeking volunteers to pick up trash and debris along the New River and Skunk Creek trail systems. The site for this year's clean-up will be north and south of Bell Road near the Antigua Clothing Outlet, located at 16651 N. 84th Ave., between 7 and 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 18. Pre-registered volunteers need to check in by 7 a.m. Onsite registration and check in starts at 6:30 a.m. Parking is available on the back or east side of the complex adjacent to the trail. Volunteer Workday in the Garden: Saturday, April 18, 8 to 11 a.m., Glendale Xeriscape Garden, 5959 W. Brown St.
Spring has sprung at the 4-acre Xeriscape Garden and volunteers, 14 years of age and older, are invited to help clean-up the garden by pulling weeds, pruning, raking, and sweeping. 2015 Year of the Gibbon – The lunar calendar may have just ushered in the Year of the Sheep, but according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, 2015 is actually the International Year of the Gibbon. The Phoenix Zoo is home to two buff-cheeked gibbons, China and Enik, and two siamangs, Boyd and Haddie. To celebrate the occasion, watch as the siamang receive behavioral enrichment and enjoy an encounter at the buff-cheeked gibbon island.

Crawl through the tunnels to look for prairie dogs.
